The 2023 Annual Report for CalMTA details the foundational activities conducted by the program to help meet California’s efficiency and decarbonization goals.
Notable highlights in 2023 include:
- Established a Market Transformation Advisory Board (MTAB) of nine members from diverse backgrounds and held regular, public meetings throughout the year to gain input on development of potential Market Transformation Initiatives (MTIs).
- Launched an MTI Development process including criteria for determining how well ideas meet market transformation needs and a scoring rubric to ensure fair assessment.
- Held a Request for Ideas solicitation that received 117 submissions.
- Conducted outreach and meetings that established relationships with stakeholders and market actors.
- Developed and adopted a framework for evaluating MTIs including a public feedback process.
- Developed an approach to equity, held listening sessions, and reported on takeaways from conversations related to equity in market transformation.
- Vetted and recommended three “front runner” market transformation ideas for MTAB consideration. These were developed into Advancement Plans and presented to the MTAB.
